Venus is the goddess of love, seduction and beauty in Roman mythology
Venus is the goddess of love, seduction and beauty in Roman mythology. She is the equivalent of the Greek goddess Aphrodite. Her name comes from the Latin verb ‘vincire’ (to enchain or bind) because she unites Fire (the masculine principle) to Water (the feminine principle) which gives Life. This remnant of a Roman statue superbly illustrates the standards of beauty at that time.
